This story is set in the charming fictional small town of Roses, North Carolina. Here, I introduce a new character and the hero, Dr. Jacob Williams, to our beloved mix of familiar heroes and heroines. Penelope Reid was featured in 1-800-NEW YEAR, book 5 of the 1-800 series. She is a fun character who has relocated to Roses with her son, Evan, who is a soon-to-be adolescent.

Jacob is from Australia, and he and Penelope first meet on an airplane bound for Hilton Head Island.

It is my hope you love these fun characters and this sweet, heart-warming holiday romance. An adorable puppy is also added to the mix, and a Happily-Ever-After is guaranteed.

Afraid of flying, Penelope strikes up a conversation with the stranger sitting next to her on the plane. He seems to be only half listening, but it helps her get through her fears. A couple of months later she meets Jacob Williams, the new pediatrician in town who just so happens to be the stranger from the plane. He ended up there partly because of meeting Penelope on the trip. As Penelope and Jacob get to know one another, feelings start to develop. But can Penelope open her heart to another man after having gone through a difficult divorce? And after the way Penelope treated Jacob, can he forgive her?

Penelope’s son, Evan, is finally starting to come out of his shell again and showing an interest in hanging out with his old friend and swimming, something he had previously loved to do.

A heartwarming story of hope, forgiveness, new beginnings, a HEA, and puppies!

I enjoyed the storyline but felt that Penelope often acted immature and selfish. At least she was later able to admit to herself that her actions and anger at Jacob had been foolish and juvenile. Regarding the incident at the beach, I believe it would have played out differently if she hadn’t panicked and accused Jacob on not acting faster to remedy the situation.

What do you do when you dislike flying? You talk the ear off of your semi conscious seat mate. Not a bad idea when you expect to never see the handsome stranger again. However, when he ends up landing in your hometown, how do you proceed? Penelope Reid confesses her inner most secrets to Jacob. What does she do when Jacob Williams turns out to be the new doctor in town? Will he keep her secrets? I love how the story was written. The characters are truly relatable. We each have fears, ambitions, and thoughts that we may not share with anyone except a stranger. Josie Riviera brings out the best in her stories. Even though this is one of a series, the reader will not be lost in this story. Each character is done well.

Christmas in the Air reintroduces the reader to many of the characters we already know and love after meeting them in earlier books of her 1-800 series. We also meet Jacob Williams, an attractive doctor who is seated next to her on a flight to Hilton Head Island, South Carolina.

Since she is nervous about flying and certain that they will never see each other again, Penelope Reid keeps up a continuous chatter with Jacob. Needless to say, she is surprised when she discovers that he has moved to her hometown of Roses, North Carolina to take over the practice of a retiring doctor.

As you would expect, Jacob and Penelope are attracted to each other. However, while both proclaim that they are not interested in a serious relationship, a romance blooms between Jacob and Penelope.

Jacob learns that Penelope’s son, Evan, is hoping to get a puppy for Christmas and encourages Penelope to get one for him. Although a bit reluctant, Penny goes to the nearby shelter to see what puppies are available. She finds a dog with a new litter but wants to let Evan make his own choice. Unknown to her, Jacob and Evan have been helping at the animal shelter and Jacob has learned about her plan.

This is a romance, so the reader expects a happily ever after. But the road to this anticipated conclusion is bumpy. I followed the high and low moments of the relationship just hoping that everything will work out as expected.

If you enjoy a good romance, especially one that includes Christmas and a cute puppy or two, then I encourage you to pick up a copy of this book.

Although I had already pre-ordered my copy, I asked to receive an advance copy of this book when the author asked for early readers. You do not need to have read any of the previous books in the series as each can easily be read as a standalone. No promise was made of a positive review and any opinions here are my own.

So enjoyable and heartwarming. A meeting on a plane with lots of conversation from Penelope a divorcee with a son and a man named Jacob who is a good listener. Penelope does not expect to see him again. Until he turns up as the new doctor in her town. While Jacob knows he wants a relationship with Penelope she is overcautious. Overcautious with her son, her job and Jacob. I wondered if Penelope would ever get over her fear of being hurt and let the wonderful Jacob into her life. Well there is always a Christmas miracle to be found.
