I was a child in a small town in the 50's. It was a time when kids amused themselves with paper, scissors, magazines, paste, crayons, and books, while listening to the radio. That's when I wrote and illustrated my first books, lacing the pages together with shoe strings. Writing wasn't something I dreamed of doing "when I grow up;" it was something I was already doing. I wrote plays for my classmates, wrote for the school newspapers, yearbook, tons of letters of correspondence with relatives and pen pals. I recently found a yellowed poem I wrote for the Michigan State University newspaper. Don't remember it, but there it is! After I had kids (7) I wrote puppet plays and stories for them, edited school newsletters, and projects, plays and news for Scouts and church. I wrote all the time. I made scrapbooks, diaries and kept journals. I hadn't figured out that I was a writer, or an author. That didn't happen until after the children were grown and I began writing travel books for grand children. Then one day it happened. I woke up and said, "I have a story in my head, and I think it wants to be a book. I guess I'll try to write a book."

There are very few of ‘em left. Fay Lamb, the only daughter of a rebel genius father and a hard-working, tow-the-line mom, is not only a fifth-generation Floridian, she has lived her life in Titusville, where her grandmother was born in 1899. Recently, while touring the town’s historical museum, Fay and her husband, Marc, discovered a newspaper clipping in which their great-aunts stood side by side in a 1926 eighth grade class photo. A mural on the historical society’s outer wall depicts three fishermen: one is Fay’s uncle; the other two depict Marc’s great-grandfather and his great-uncle.
Because Marc and Fay both have quirky families, they love to try to tip the scales with stories of the escapades of loved ones, vying for the title of quirkiest family. Marc usually concedes because Fay’s father was too colorful a character. She believes that aside from salvation, God’s greatest gift is that of humor, and she often uses family exploits in her writing. Because she also believes that those who laugh the most often cry the hardest, Fay mimics that truth in her stories by including moments of laughter born from tears.
Since an early age, storytelling has been Fay’s greatest desire. She seeks to create memorable characters that touch her readers’ heart. She says of her writing, “If I can’t laugh or cry at the words written on the pages of my manuscript, the story is not ready for the reader.” Fay writes in various genres, including romance, romantic suspense, and contemporary fiction.
Fay takes the adage “write what you know” seriously and incorporates that truth into all her stories. Many of her characters and her locations are molded from her life experiences and from people and places she has met, has visited, and that have intrigued her. One character can be a mix of three or four true life “characters.” So be careful. Fay loves to create conflict in her stories. She might invite you into one.
Ruth O’Neil has been writing for over 20 years. She has published hundreds of articles in numerous publications. She loves to touch the emotions when she writes. “If I can make one person laugh or cry, I’ll consider myself successful.” She is a veteran homeschooling mom of 20 years. She and her husband have been married for 20-plus years. In her spare time she enjoys quilting, crafting, and reading. The Christmas Tree Treasure Hunt is like a combination of The Amazing Race and The Ultimate Gift. It has adventure in foreign countries, treasures abounding, emotional surprises, and the realizing that a dear family member loved you so much that they wanted you (or, well, Grace) to learn something important from it all.
This story expresses the gift of knowledge, how sisters never truly break apart, and most importantly... the beauty of forgiveness. I love how this group of authors collaborated so well to create an excellent Christmas story that warms your heart. The book is written with solid Christian faith following every chapter, and intertwines well with the message being shown in the plot.
Love this book.
NOTE: Mature content is included in part of the back-story behind the main plot, but other than that, it is a clean read.
Through various states and foreign countries Grace comes to know even more about Grammie and the mark she left on others. But the best gift was finally opening her heart to love, forgiveness, and even God.
By the end of the story you will begin to see the true gift was not just for Grace: it is for each one of us, and we really need to open our hearts and listen.
At the beginning of the story I realized I had read this a while back. However, it was definitely worth reading again.
The fact that this sweet story, plotted and written by nine collaborating authors, was completed in a month might sound miraculous enough, but what's really amazing is how seamlessly it flows. I started reading it on Tracy Ruckman's website, WriteIntergrityPress, then knew I MUST read it all the way through.
I easily read this novella in an evening and enjoyed every line. I hope you will add it to your Christmas reading, and perhaps give it as a gift as well. Highly recommended.

Was suprised when it started to relate to God, but found this very good and thought provoking.
The end was a little predictable but I liked the way the rest of it went. Feel it could have carried on to say how life turned out.
Would recommend to anyone who wants a nice feel good type book
